Flights Resume at Scotland's Busiest Airport In the Wake of Significant Control Tower IT Issue

An IT issue at Edinburgh's ATC meant no planes could arrive or depart from the airport.

Flight operations have recommenced at Scotland's primary international airport following a major technical issue at the control tower brought the international hub to a standstill.

Every arrival and departure were stopped because of an systems problem that was reported at approximately 08:30.

Some passengers reported being stuck in aircraft on the tarmac while the issue persisted.

Flights Resume with Ongoing Delays

A statement indicated at 10:40 that flights had resumed, and thanked passengers for their "cooperation and patience".

However, significant disruption are anticipated to continue throughout the day. Flights to key destinations like Amsterdam, Frankfurt, London, and Bristol have been cancelled, with many others subject to postponements.

Officials had previously estimated that dozens of flights could be impacted.

"Flyers are asked to get in touch with their carrier for the most up-to-date details on their specific flights," the statement added.

Officials linked the widespread suspension to an technical fault with its air traffic control provider.

Passengers continue to be advised to check the status of their journey before traveling to the airport as backlogs are cleared.
