Kansas City Chiefs Acknowledge Domestic Violence Allegations Involving Player the Athlete
The Kansas City Chiefs released a comment on Wednesday evening indicating they have knowledge of claims of abuse circulated in online accounts by a ex-partner of wide receiver Rashee Rice and were in contact with the league office.
The team omitted the name of the player specifically in their announcement and noted they would have “nothing more to add at this time”.

The woman, who also did not mention the athlete by name, posted a set of images on Instagram that seemed to depict indicators of bodily harm. Jones stated the person involved was the parent of her kids, and it is known she has two children with Rice, whom the Chiefs selected in the second round.

Player's Prior Legal Issues
The receiver was absent for the first six games of this NFL campaign due to an NFL suspension for his involvement in causing a multi-vehicle accident on a Dallas highway that left several individuals hurt. Rice was sentenced 30 days in jail and probationary supervision after entering a guilty plea to serious offenses.
On the field, he concluded the season with 53 receptions for 571 receiving yards and five TDs as the Kansas City finished with a losing record and missed the playoffs for the first time in a ten-year span.
