Slot Asserts He Is Secure and Retains The Club's Support Following PSV Eindhoven Loss

Arne Slot acknowledged that it's understandable for questions to be raised about his position following another heavy loss versus PSV Eindhoven.

The Reds endured their ninth loss in twelve games, representing the club's worst streak since being relegated in the 1953-54 season.

They were taken apart by the Dutch league champions on a difficult evening at Anfield.

“I feel secure, things are alright, I've received plenty of backing from management,” Slot commented.

“It's important to change things and get a victory naturally but when you're in a managerial role and struggling then it's typical that questions are asked.”

He continued, “I accept my position. This isn't the initial instance I've found myself in a difficult position but it's crucial that we changed our fortunes.”

Conversations with Liverpool Hierarchy

When asked to expand on his dialogues with the Liverpool hierarchy, the head coach said:

“We communicate frequently. They are supportive to the team and for me and we have those conversations but they aren't calling me all the time each day to say they trust me.”

He added, “Through standard conversations we have I feel the belief. However I haven’t spoken to them after this game so far so it remains to be seen.”

Recurring Problems and Player Response

Slot lamented recurring shortcomings from his squad in their European loss, namely wasted chances and defensive lapses.

Meanwhile, midfielder Jones was more direct in his assessment of the team's situation.

“I haven't got the solutions. Honestly, I don’t. I'm telling that to everyone,” the midfielder stated.

“It's simply unacceptable. I don't need to wait to reflect. I'm beyond feeling anger internally. I've reached the stage now where I simply lack the words.”

He continued, “It's tough because I’m playing for the club I love. I support them, and I've watched this club since I was young.”

“In recent memory, I haven’t experienced a Reds side experiencing a spell of this nature with results like these.”

Jones stated, “However we still have the crest on our chest. And as long as that badge is removed, we will always battle.”

“We’re going to try to bring this squad back to the top, show everyone again the values of this club and why it's known as the best team in the planet.”

“However currently, things are bad and we have to turn it around.”
