US President Trump has declared he is hiking import taxes on products imported from Canadian sources after the territory of Ontario ran an anti-tariff commercial using late President Reagan.

In a online message on the weekend, the President described the commercial a "fraud" and criticized Canadian authorities for not taking down it prior to the MLB finals.

"Owing to their significant distortion of the reality, and aggressive move, I am increasing the duty on Canadian goods by 10 percent in addition to what they are being charged now," Trump posted.

After Trump on last Thursday pulled out of trade negotiations with Canada, the Ontario's leader stated he would take down the advertisement.

Ontario's Reaction

Doug Ford Doug Ford declared on Friday that he would halt his territory's anti-tariff advertisement campaign in the America, telling reporters that he decided after consultations with Prime Minister Carney "to ensure commercial discussions can continue".

He also said it would continue to air over the weekend, including contests for the baseball championship, which includes the Toronto Blue Jays versus the Dodgers.

Trade Situation

Canada is the only G7 country that has not secured a deal with the United States since Trump started seeking to levy steep tariffs on products from major trading partners.

The America has already enforced a 35% tax on all Canada's products - though many are exempt under an existing trade deal. It has also applied industry-specific taxes on Canada's items, featuring a 50 percent levy on metals and 25 percent on cars.

In his update, posted while he was flying to Malaysia, Trump seemed to say he was adding 10 percent to these duties.

Seventy-five percent of Canada's overseas sales are shipped to the US, and the region is host to the majority of the nation's automobile manufacturing.

Reagan Advertisement Information

The advert, which was sponsored by the provincial government, references late President Reagan, a conservative icon and symbol of American conservatism, stating import taxes "harm all Americans".

The commercial includes segments from a 1987 radio speech that addressed global commerce.

The Foundation, which is tasked with protecting the ex-president's legacy, had condemned the advertisement for using "carefully chosen" sound and footage and stated it misrepresented Reagan's address. It also said the Ontario government had not requested consent to use it.

Continuing Conflicts

In his post on social media on the weekend, the President said that the advertisement should have been pulled down sooner.

"Ontario's Advertisement was to be pulled IMMEDIATELY, but they allowed it to air yesterday during the World Series, knowing that it was a LIE," Trump stated, while flying to Southeast Asia.

the Premier had before pledged to broadcast the Ronald Reagan commercial in each Republican district in the America.

The two the President and Carney will be participating in the Association of Southeast Asian Nation in Malaysia, but Donald Trump informed reporters traveling with him aboard the presidential plane that he does not have any "desire" of conferring with his Canadian PM during the trip.

In his post, the President additionally claimed the Canadian government of seeking to influence an future US Supreme Court lawsuit which could end his complete tariff regime.

The case, to be considered by the Supreme Court soon, will decide whether the tariffs are constitutional.

On last Thursday, Trump additionally lashed out, claiming that the commercial was created to "interfere" with "a crucial lawsuit"

World Series Link

The Reagan ad is not the sole way that the province – base of the Toronto team – is using the World Series as a platform to criticize the President's duties.

In a video published on Friday, the Premier and California Governor Newsom humorously agreed on stakes about which team would triumph the series.

Each official repeatedly joked about tariffs in the video, with Doug Ford promising to deliver Gavin Newsom a container of syrup if the LA Dodgers win.

"The import tax might charge me a few extra bucks at the frontier currently, but it'll be justified," he wrote.

In answer, Newsom requested Ford to restart enabling American-produced beverages to be sold in Ontario liquor stores, and vowed to provide "California's top-quality wine" if the Blue Jays succeed.

They concluded their dialogue both saying: "Cheers to a excellent MLB finals, and a tax-free friendship between the province and CA."
